John Dingell, has been in the House of Representatives since 1955 and is its longest serving member. He’s one of the more liberal representatives. But it’s his longevity that really makes him a stand out. 27 terms–longer than the intrepid Senator Robert Byrd.

Today is election day.  It’s an off-off year election.  We have some governor’s races.  Some national office races to fill empty seats.  You may even have some local races for school board or mayor.  It’s time to fill your civic duty and vote.

Olympia Snow

UPDATE – 10/13/09 : Olympia Snow breaks ranks and votes the Backus health care reform bill out of committee. Clearly, she’s not only out of step with her party, but the majority of the US population and most likely her own constituents.

Last week (Feb. 13, 2009), three republican senators broke with their party and “negotiated” with the democrats to help pass the massive $800,000,000,000 “stimulus” package. For their courage we present their names for you to not re-elect. Three term republican Senator Olympia Snow was one of them.

Vindication!

Today a Rasmussen Reports poll came out stating that 57% of the people surveyed stated they would prefer to throw out ALL of the members of Congress and start over. At TfTL we’re more surprised that this number is down 2% from last October when the so called “stimulus” bill was passed.

Congressional Outsourcing

It used to be that members of congress carefully, painstakingly and diligently crafted legislation. They would meet together in smoke filled back rooms and cut deals, but they were the ones that actually did the work. Not any more.

Eric Massa

The health care town hall meetings have provided lots of fodder for those who are concerned about their representatives. New York Congressman Eric Massa has added to the pile with his on camera admission that he would vote against the interests of the voters in his district.

With the recent protests, we’ve decided to post up a Town Hall of Shame. We’ll try and update videos from various town hall meetings with representatives who can’t actually defend the health care bills and choose to attack those who would question potential policy.
