Bart Gordon

We bring you yet another Democratic attorney from the great state of Tennessee, Bart Gordon. Our quick search shows that he has had an unremarkable career. We’re not saying that’s a bad thing. 13 terms in office is a bad thing.
Gary Ackerman

oday we’re presenting Gary Ackerman for not being reelected. This former school teacher and newspaper publisher has had an interesting career. He’s been involved in baby AIDS legislation, the federal family leave act, and other populist lawmaking. But 26 years. That’s the real issue.
Edolphus “Ed” Towns

Former social worker Edolphus “Ed” Towns has been in congress a long time. 26 years. 26 years of working for special projects. The short list appears to have mostly projects that contradict the 10th Amendment, but they’re still “good” things. Right?
John Spratt, Jr.

This Blue Dog Democrat is fairly popular in his 5th district. He’s more conservative than most Democrats. We’d recommend the Republicans court him to switch sides, but that would be wrong. Wrong because he’s served 14 terms. It’s time for him to let someone else represent the 5th district.
Solomon Ortiz

Solomon Ortiz has been an elected constable, county commissioner and sheriff. These are great offices to hold. But we’re concerned that he’s spent since 1983 in the House of Representatives. He’s still there. And it’s time for someone else to take this 72 year old congressman’s place.
Alan Mollohan

We at TfTL are running out of snide attorney remarks. There are simply too many of them in congress for us to come up with something original to use. Forgive us if we start recycling them. TfTL brings another attorney-cum-politician Alan Mollohan.
Marcy Kaptur

Marcy Kaptur is the most senior woman in the House of Representatives. She ranks 30th. She is unique. Not only is she a woman, but she’s not an attorney. But she is a life long political activist, either in the party or as an elected member. And she represents the problem: Professional politicians.
Howard Berman

Howard Berman, is like so many others, an attorney-turned-career-politician. He clearly represents the business interests his district, voting for legislation that would protect “Hollywood” based businesses. He is also a politician of the first order. Our founding fathers never intended us to make careers out of federally elected offices. It is for this reason alone that TfTL recommends all in the 28th district to not reelect this career politician.
Steny Hoyer

Steny Hoyer, like most of the House, is a great example of why we need term limits. He thinks being a member of congress is a career choice. He has proved valuable to his party in helping raise funds for incumbent reelection campaigns. But what have his major contributions been?
Patty Murray

Patty Murray isn’t sure if she’s going to run for reelection in 2010. Let’s help her out. All the Democrats in Washington should contact their party officials and insist that someone new be promoted by the ballot…someone who’s not a serial legislator (we encourage Republicans to do the same thing).
