Louisiana Senator David Vitter
Scandal plagued David Vitter has announced that he is running for re-election in 2010. He’s still popular with the Louisiana voters. But we’re concerned that he, like so many of his colleagues, has become a serial legislator. He’s been in the House of Representatives and before that, the Louisiana House of Representatives.
The real questions is will the citizens of Louisiana be better served by someone who’s not made a career out of elected office? Ideally, he’d announce that he’s returning to private practice. But, if that doesn’t happen, then maybe another Republican should challenge him (and the Louisiana GOP should support the challenger on principal). Louisianans, work to not reelect David Vitter.
