Louisiana Congressman Joseph Cao
The debate over health care reform has really lead to us having some mixed feelings. On the one hand, the Founding Fathers were afraid of mob rule and were fearful of “pure” democracy being not much different than a mob. At TfTL, we agree with the sentiment. The idea is that a good representative will prevent the mob from doing something stupid – like pushing for unconstitutional legislation. Historically, this has been the case. In Joseph Cao’s situation we have the opposite. The “mob”, if that’s what you want to call it, is pushing to have him vote against an unconstitutional measure.
Joseph Cao clearly was more worried about being reelected than doing what’s right. His vote didn’t get his constituents any better access to health care, nor did it lower their costs. It simply pushed the country further into bankruptcy. For these reasons, and more, he deserves not to be reelected.
Do Not Re-Elect Representative Joseph Cao.
