Ohio Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur
Marcy Kaptur is the most senior woman in the House of Representatives. She ranks 30th. She is unique. Not only is she a woman, but she’s not an attorney. But she is a life long political activist, either in the party or as an elected member.
And she represents the problem: Professional politicians. Sure, she’s got a degree in urban planning, but she’s spent the last 25 years in congress. How does one stay active in their profession if they spend all their time in political activities? Clearly, her reelection margins indicate that she’s popular. Since when does popularity mean effective?
She gets points for voting against the 2008 bailouts. But she loses more points for staying in congress since 1983. It’s time for someone else.
