John McCain

Arizona Senator John McCain

Arizona Senator John McCain

Senator John McCain failed in 2008 in his bid for the presidency.  This decorated Vietnam prisoner of war and war hero has served Arizona in the Senate since 1987, with two terms as a congressman before that.  Senator McCain has been deemed a Republican in Name Only by many of his own party–having reached across the aisle many times to support legislation opposed by the majority of his party.   All of this adds to his self styled image of being a maverick.

As we’ve stated before:  A military career is certainly admirable.  Being in the military requires special skills and temperament.  They deserve the pittance they receive as pay from the tax payers they give their lives to defend.  However, elected public office was not and is not to be a life’s ambition or career.  The only special skills elected office requires are honesty and integrity (and an understanding of the Constitution of the United States).  This is where we part company with John McCain.  He has spent his adult life as an elected official hopping from one position to the next.  He’s not the only one.  We say to him, as to all those who are doing the same:  Stop it!  If you don’t we will.  We will not reelect John McCain (or elect him to another federal public office).
