Hawaii Senator Daniel Inouye
At 85, Senator Daniel Inouye is one of the oldest members of the senate and third in seniority. He has represented Hawaii since its statehood in 1959. Senator Inouye is a decorated WWII veteran who has served his entire adult life either in the military or in the halls of congress. While a military career is something we support, a long term congressional career is something we do not support.
Senator Inouye has announced he will run for reelection in 2010. If he were to win, he would be 93 at the end of his term. Age can bring wisdom, but that’s not what the Founding Fathers had in mind when the set Senate terms at 6 years. It’s time for someone from Hawaii who hasn’t spent his life in Washington DC.
