Idaho Senator Mike Crapo
Mike Crapo ran unopposed in 2004 and received 99% of the votes. This attorney in his second term seems very popular with his constituents. He’s also a “serial” legislator–having served in elected state office before being elected to federal office as a member of the House of Representatives prior to his election to the Senate.
But popularity does not mean it’s good for the country for you to stay in office. What’s good for the country is to return to private practice, or even as a judge (Harry Reid suggested he take the place of Sandra Day O’Connor when she retired). As much as we might like the guy, it’s time for Idaho to send a new Senator to Washington.
