Mark Kirk

Mark Steven Kirk is considered a “moderate” Republican (which means most conservatives would consider him a RINO). But our objects primarily rests on his need to stay in Washington. He’s on his 4th term. He thinks of himself as a “centrist.” We think he’s been in Washington too long.
Mike Castle

Mike Castle is a Republican attorney (surprise!) representing the state of Delaware. He’s served as the lieutenant governor and governor of Delaware. This means he’s been in public “service” for well over two decades. Mike Castle is part of the “gang of 8″ who recently broke party ranks to vote for the climate change bill.
Mary Bono Mack

Mary’s positions on the issues aren’t what get our attention. It’s that she’s served more terms than is reasonable. She’s served more than one. The other item, although not as disconcerting to us at TfTL as her multiple terms, is that she voted for the recent climate bill in spite of great opposition from the majority of her constituents.* She didn’t represent them or the values of her party. Of course, independence is good to a point. In this case, she joined the lemmings and ran off the cliff.**
Republican House Turncoats

UPDATE: The New York Times has some great infographics on the climate change bill.
8 Republicans voted for the climate change bill that just passed the House. We will be showcasing them in the upcoming week. None of them deserve reelection for voting for this completely unconstitutional bill.
Bart Gordon

We bring you yet another Democratic attorney from the great state of Tennessee, Bart Gordon. Our quick search shows that he has had an unremarkable career. We’re not saying that’s a bad thing. 13 terms in office is a bad thing.
Howard Coble

Howard Coble resumes our attorney-cum-congressman list. This Republican has been serving for 24 years. Plenty of time for him to realize that being a congressman isn’t a career. We need to help him learn this lesson and not reelect him.
Joe Barton

Joe Barton breaks our Democrat streak of 7 as the next representative we wish to not reelect. Not only is he unique as a Republican, he’s also not an attorney (it’s been a while since we said something about that). This engineer has been in congress for 24 years.
Gary Ackerman

oday we’re presenting Gary Ackerman for not being reelected. This former school teacher and newspaper publisher has had an interesting career. He’s been involved in baby AIDS legislation, the federal family leave act, and other populist lawmaking. But 26 years. That’s the real issue.
Edolphus “Ed” Towns

Former social worker Edolphus “Ed” Towns has been in congress a long time. 26 years. 26 years of working for special projects. The short list appears to have mostly projects that contradict the 10th Amendment, but they’re still “good” things. Right?
John Spratt, Jr.

This Blue Dog Democrat is fairly popular in his 5th district. He’s more conservative than most Democrats. We’d recommend the Republicans court him to switch sides, but that would be wrong. Wrong because he’s served 14 terms. It’s time for him to let someone else represent the 5th district.
